These IOTA Engineering units are available as battery chargers or converter/power supplies. The DLS series battery chargers from IOTA are 3 stage units using a built in IQ4 microprocessor controller to regulate charger functions, which provides efficient charging to the battery charger's maximum output (constant current), and monitoring of output voltage as it rises to the charger's absorption set point. The battery charger then maintains this absorption voltage (constant voltage) until the battery is fully charged. The charger then drops the output voltage to the 3rd mode, or "float" stage, which is safe for long term battery maintenance. The IQ4 controller is also available as a separate module, to be plugged into a DLS converter/power supply, thereby converting those units to 3 stage chargers.

The DLS series power converter/power supply from IOTA converts 120 volts nominal A.C. to 13.6 or 27.2 volts DC, depending on the model. As a power supply, its tightly controlled regulation allows the user to operate any 12 or 24 volt nominal D.C. load up to the converter’s rated output current.

The DLS series power converter/battery charger is designed with high quality components to help ensure years of continuous use. The DLS series is protected by multiple protection features for a long, trouble-free life. 1) Reverse Battery Polarity Protection. 2) Brown-Out Input Protection. 3) Over-Current Protection - cycle by cycle peak limiting as well as rated current limiting to maximize the life of the converter. 4) Over-Temperature Protection. In addition, it is designed with a unique “proportional” fan control circuit (except the DLS-15 model). Fan speed is directly proportional to the converter’s internal ambient temperature. This enables the fan to turn on and off very slowly, minimizing unwanted fan-starting noise.

IOTA converter/chargers were built in the US in the past. While still excellent quality units, with a 2 year warranty, they are now built in China to IOTA Engineering specifications. Some companies still market Iota units as US built, when they no longer are.
