With rising fuel prices, fuel availability, and environmental concerns, the Electric Vehicle market is experiencing a surge/resurgence of interest, including at the OEM automotive level. There are numerous companies and individuals doing conversions or scratch built electric vehicles and motorcycles, or rebuilding older EVs. EVs tend to have higher system voltages than golf carts and industrial carts, and decent chargers at these voltage levels are not that common. While our chargers are for lead acid or sealed lead acid (AGM & GEL) profiles, the companies are working on Lithium Ion profiles. And, while the 72 volt chargers work for 72 volt GEM cars or Ford Think cars (to replace the problem prone factory chargers), they are not plug-and-play into the factory harnesses. They wire to the batteries and bypass the factory harness. The charger companies are working on this as well.
The Quick Charge Select-A-Charge Portable or On Board chargers feature one touch programming that allows these chargers to charge deep cycle, wet starting, gel, and AGM batteries with precision. Also programmable is the gassing mode, and recycle times when in shut off mode. The 2 digit LED display shows percent of charge in the battery, and battery voltage. Float voltage is temperature compensated in the portable units. The Standard On Board units are for one battery type and profile only. Quick Charge units are DC current limiting and polarity protected. The 115/230 volt units can plug into either AC voltage, so you are not limited to specific outlets when on the road. Amp output is reduced at 115 VAc, though. Best of all, they are made in the USA, and have a 3 year warranty. They can be used for electric vehicles, industrial carts, floor scrubbers, pallet jacks, golf carts, personnel movers, or any industrial application requiring a heavy duty charger. They come with ring terminals, or an appropriate industrial connector. These are built to order by the manufacturer, so allow about a week lead time.
The Dual Pro units are excellent, US built units as well. The standard profile is for wet cell or AGM batteries, but they can be user reconfigured for true Gel batteries. They are temperature compensated, with all the protections.
So, hopefully these units from Quick Charge and Dual Pro will fill some missing niches in our selection with quality, US built chargers. So, take a look and call our tech line if you have any questions. We only carry quality, reliable products that will do the job if properly selected.
