Solar panels convert light energy to electrical energy. The BSP512 solar panel is appropriately sized for maintenance of two 12 volt batteries of about 100 to 200 amp hours of capacity without a controller, or smaller amp hour battery packs with use of a controller. This solar panel has a built in blocking diode to prevent electrical feedback through the panel at night (drain) when used without a controller. The BSP512 is an aluminum framed, commercial grade solar panel for long term exterior use, and comes with 10 feet of UV resistant cable permanently attached.

We use this solar panel for maintenance of emergency generator or pump starting batteries, motor homes, buses, or heavy equipment where the starting system is a pair of 12 volt batteries in parallel. Trailers with two 12 volt batteries in parallel for hydraulic pumps can use this solar panel for maintenance during storage only; the battery should charge from the towing vehicle or an AC charging source. This 5 watt panel can be used to charge small sealed lead acid batteries (AGM) from 1.2 amp hour to about 18 amp hours with a controller. The BSP5-12 can be used to maintain boat (marine) batteries of appropriate size.
