We carry 48 volt battery chargers in various styles and models for varying applications. There are multiple output chargers, and straight 48 volt output units of different amp capacities, and connector selections for various golf cart or industrial applications. We currently offer US built Dual Pro chargers, US built Quick Charge chargers, with a 3 year warranty, and a Schauer 48 volt unit.
The Dual Pro Eagle 48 volt battery chargers are industrial grade chargers, with fan cooling and temperature compensation of the output charge, available in 15 amp and 18 amp output. The Eagle series are a heavy duty, microprocessor controlled, thermally protected charger, encased in a heavy duty case and powder coated aluminum base. They can be portable or bench top chargers, with a handle. They are available with alligator clips, or an Anderson connector of the appropriate size and color. 48 volt systems usually use the blue Anderson SB50 50 amp connector. We also have them available for Club Car and Yamaha golf carts with the appropriate connector for each.
The Dual Pro Eagle series combine the reliability of a heavy duty transformer, with a microprocessor controller, for long term performance and proper battery management. With temperature compensation and computer control, a quicker, more efficient charge cycle results in complete battery charge, better battery life, and less water loss in flooded batteries. They are safe for the sealed lead acid batteries as well. These units go into a float mode when the charge is complete, for long term battery maintenance. Eagle 48 volt chargers have an LED array on the charger case which indicates status of the battery.
The Eagle series are made in the US, and feature a 3 year warranty. The Eagle is suitable for moderate to medium use 48 volt systems, including floor scrubbers, golt carts, cargo carts, scissor lifts, personnel carts, and other industrial equipment. Battery capacities from about 36 amp hours and up are appropriate for one or the other model charger, depending on use and desired recharge time.
The Dual Pro Sportsman SS4 and PRO series PRO4 marine battery chargers are relatively new to the Dual Pro line, and are four bank, temperature compensating, independent output, 12 volt battery chargers, 10 amp and 15 amp per bank respectively. These chargers can be used as 12 volt chargers at 40 amps (SS4), or 60 amps (PRO), by hooking all the outputs to a single 12 volt battery. Or they can be used in a 24, 36 or 48 volt system using a combination of 12 volt batteries. The Sportman Edition and PRO chargers are heavy duty, waterproof, and fully potted for vibration resistance. They can be built as portable chargers, with alligator clips. The independent output battery chargers have a separate positive and negative connector for each of the four banks, and a separate microprocessor for each bank which controls the charge algorithm. They can be used on batteries of differing state of charge, age, capacity, or type. This is handy in marine applications with a starting battery and a trolling setup, where the trolling batteries, tend to be significantly discharged, and the starting battery only needs topping off and maintenance. They can also be used for series strings of 12 volt batteries for 24 to 48 volts. Each battery gets its own positive and negative connection, and the microprocessor for each bank does not care if they are series or parallel connected. This is useful in 24 volt to 48 volt systems where one of the 12 volt batteries in the string is tapped for 12 volt loads like communications, GPS, radar, etc., and the batteries end up imbalanced. A straight 24 volt to 48 volt charger used in an imbalance situation would not properly charge the pack and fix the imbalance.
The Sportsman SS4 and PRO4 four output battery chargers are suitable for 12 to 48 volt applications where vibration, water, or harsh environments exist. They have provisions for mounting for permanent installation, and are temperature compensating. They are a well built charger, which can be mounted onboard for years of reliable service. They are built in the USA, and have a 3 year warranty.
The Quick Charge 48 volt battery chargers include portable type chargers with handles, available with alligator clips or various industrial connectors, and on board units for mounting on industrial equipment or electric vehicles. There are also 60 amp and 100 amp single phase industrial units. These are also built in the US and have a 3 year warranty.
The Schauer 48 volt 15 amp, is a relatively inexpensive 48 volt smart charger, for commercial applications, or available with connectors for Club Car or Yamaha golf cart applications. They are universal input (100 to 240 VAC), and selectable for sealed or flooded batteries.
Battery systems using 48 volts are found in industrial systems, golf carts, floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, forklifts, etc. They usually involve a four 12 volt batteries hooked in series, or eight 6 volt batteries in series. Battery packs in multiple battery applications are recommendended to be of the same age and capacity. Batteries of different age or depth of discharge cycles have differing internal resistance, and a charger sees the average resistance of the pack, which may see some batteries being overcharged. The same principle applies to series/parallel connection of dissimilar sized batteries. A quality 48 volt charger pays for itself with proper battery management, and maximum battery life.
