At ChargingChargers.com, we carry the industrial quality Samlex battery chargers in amperages from 15 amps to 80 amps, all of which have a power supply mode ("battery with load"), and will function even without a battery. All Samlex chargers are microprocessor controlled switch mode chargers, using 3 stage charging, which provides efficient charging to the battery charger's maximum output (constant current), and monitoring of output voltage as it rises to the charger's absorption set point. The battery charger then maintains this absorption voltage (constant voltage) until the battery is fully charged. The charger then drops the output voltage to the 3rd mode, or "float" stage, which is safe for long term battery maintenance.

The float stage in a microprocessor controlled battery charger is an excellent application of newer technology. Older battery trickle chargers usually maintained an amperage level that was too high for long term maintenance, and overcharged batteries if not frequently monitored. The Samlex battery chargers can be left connected for indeterminant periods, and the microprocessor only applies enough current (at the float voltage) to compensate for internal battery discharge, or power supply type drains (see the section below for larger current drain situations).

The Samlex battery chargers are dip switch settable to deactivate the boost mode to function as a power supply at the float voltage, for backup power systems (UPS) for example, or power supply applications up to their rated output amperage. This setting is called 'battery with load' in the user manual. The Samlex chargers are also dip switch settable for true gel batteries (gel cell), and are internally user selectable for 115 VAC or 230 VAC input, making them suitable for worldwide application. The SEC-1250UL and SEC-2425UL have a 'mute' button which deactivates the fan and drops maximum output amperage proportionately, for delicate audio environments. We have used this feature for some specialty movie studio applications.

Check out our selection of industrial quality battery chargers from Samlex America. At ChargingChargers.com, we select our battery chargers for reliability, design and function, warranty, and value. We can help with selection or advice by email (info@chargingchargers.com) or our tech line: (541) 582-4629. Our Techncal Advisor has placed numerous Samlex units in military and Homeland Security applications, and OEM level R&D lab situations due to their reliability and the aforementioned features. Samlex battery chargers are also used in marine and RV applications. The power supply setting is handy for robotics and similar applications for testing purposes. We deal with case pricing for quantity users. If it sounds like we are enthusiastic about the Samlex line for a variety of uses, that is correct.
